I took my
son last year and we had a great time. It was his first experience with
camping and we both can't wait to go again this year. You start out
picking a spot in the woods to set up your camper or tent. They have a
"Wildlife Dinner" that last year included many items including; gator, frog
legs, venison cooked a couple ways, pronghorn, goose, elk, and a few other
things. There are hot dogs for the unadventuresome. Then they put on
a show on a stage that lasts a little while. Once the lights from the
stage go off and they turn the generators off, you are on your own for
lighting. The next morning they have a continental type breakfast set up
for the campers and then it is off to the Sportsman's Show. My son caught
a couple catfish, shot his first bow, took a ride in a swamp buggy AND a
helicopter ($$$!), gawked at a bunch of tractors, held a little gator, learned
how to call a turkey (and then bought a turkey call), bought and ate a bunch of
great beef jerky, watched a quick monster truck show, and did all of that within
two hours. And we saw a bobcat on our way home! We hope to see more
Brevard residents out there this year. Ryan Seeloff/ BYS
